Ferny Knoll CIC is an equestrian stud farm based in Rainford, St. Helens, Merseyside which since 2002 has been utilised for breeding Arabian Horses and competition showing. The farm consists of 12 stables, outdoor riding arena and 11 horses situated on 10 acres of land.Since 2002 we have encouraged volunteering through young people and rewarded the volunteers by a working to ride philosophy which has always served as good partnership due to the financial hardships most of the volunteers encounter. During this time we have been involved with over 500 young people many furthering their education in the industry.
Horse riding is an elitist sport and we believe everyone should be able to enjoy the company of horses regardless of their financial position. We want to share our passion and knowledge and progress these individuals into further education or employment within the industry.
Ferny Knoll aims to reach as many disadvantaged young people as possible giving them a chance and belief to change their lives by addressing issues such as engagement and offending behaviour through a personalised individual approach that is absent in conventional reform.
Young people are our future and will shape our community for better or worse and it is our aim to challenge this balance and help these individuals to have brighter futures with a sense of purpose in their lives.
